Gaza talking points

Under continued Israeli blocade. 1.7 million people in a strip 25 miles long and 5 miles wide (roughly the size of the Triangle region of NC). 

Five crossings from Israel have been closed since 2008.  The sixth crossing from Egypt has been closed since 2013.

The US State Department classifies Gaza as under occupation as well as under siege with three major military assaults on the area since settlers were removed in 2005.  In addition to major assaults there are periodic air assaults and incursions into the area.

In latest major military assault, Operation Pillar of Cloud, in November of 2012 there were 1350 air strikes.

An old man in Gaza held a placard that read: “You take my water, burn my olive trees, destroy my home, take my job, steal my land, imprison my father, kill my mother, bombard my country, starve and humiliate us all, but I am to blame: I shot a rocket back.
